Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to all.

May the warmth of the Season and the blessing from your Maker grant you peace throughout the year.

This hunting year was called short, with the passing of my father.  Dad was 93 years young and ready to go.  While I do miss him, I feel his passing was proper.  He is with my mother, in a far better place.

I was in Africa on a hunt in the Limpopo area of South Africa when I found out about my dad.  It took my family and friends four days to find me, to inform me of his death.

Up until that time, I had taken six trophies, starting with a magnificent waterbuck and ending with a caracal.  I was hunting with a new outfitter, Ken, from Fraunafrika Safaris.  There, the folks showed me a great time.  I will be hunting with them in 2006.  The story that I wrote about this hunt can be seen on my website, www.campfiresandfriends.org, under the name “Under the Southern Cross.”  For all of you who want a hard copy, please send me your name and address and I will be happy to mail you a copy by way of snail mail.

This fall, I went back to Montana to hunt the “Jim Place.”  I have hunted this ranch for 12 years under two different owners, Mack Morgan, now retired, and the new owners Matt and Jamie Wickens.  The Jim place is a deer factory.  Each year, I have taken a great deer, and my meat locker is full, once again.  I have sent my deposit, and will be hunting with them for the 13th year.

Next year, I am going to hunt in northern California with my partner’s son, Joshua.  His first big game hunt*!  I have watched him grow from his first shot with an air rifle and am looking forward to him taking a pig in northern California.

I will be going back to Africa in June of ’06, to hunt with my friends at Fraunafrika Safaris and John X Safaris in the Eastern Cape.  I also want to look into a hunt in Texas for whitetail.

If any of my friends want an exciting adventure, come with me.  I would enjoy the company.

Again, I wish all of you the best for the holiday season and the New Year.
